Tröegs Brewery in Hershey—How it all Began
The recipe for this brew: Take two inquisitive brothers, Chris and John Trogner. They had great fun with everything they could find do. Activities included skateboards, projects they built together, and much more. They were the inseparable team.
According to the Tröegs Website, after college, they found the world of brewing. John began learning the craft at a commercial brewery in Colorado. Chris worked on business plans. They joined forces in the early new century in Harrisburg, but soon grew out of their humble facility.
Not ones to rest on their laurels, nor ones to maintain the status quo, they moved on from Harrisburg…to a beautifully designed, architecturally appealing brewery in Hershey. Beginning in 2011, and going through additions and improvements almost yearly, today’s Tröegs Brewery in Hershey is absolutely spectacular. Even from the highway! From the road, before entering the parking lot, their visitors are treated to impactful visuals. The towering glass walls encompassing the gleaming stainless steel tanks is striking.

Our Guests tell us they enjoy the Tröegs Brewery tour because the the participants get to see the actual process of brewing in this educational tour. The tour isn’t just looking in from the outside parameters of the brewing floor. For example, the tour takes you to into the very heart of the facility. As you go through the brewery, you get a first-hand look at the brewing equipment. Visitors to the Tröeg’s Brewery in Hershey tours are led by docents who love the craft of beer making. They know everything there is to know about the process. Moreover, these knowledgeable guides love their craft and are eager to answer your questions.
Among other things, you’ll learn the beer making process from “soup to nuts.” You will learn the different stages of the process beginning with the all important quality ingredients, including both local and “exotics.”
Tour Over? Not Yet… There’s More!
Your tour ends in the stunningly beautiful “Tasting Room.” There, you can sample beers from Tröegs’ Hershey. Whatever your passion…from the Tröegenator (malty and bold) to their every popular Perpetual IPA (hoppy and scintillating), the Tasting Room has a sample for you. Also offered is a rotation of Tröegs’ year ‘round offerings and seasonal Scratch brews.

Hungry? While not a full service restaurant with extensive menus, Tröegs has created a very thoughtful and tasty lineup of gastronomic offerings. You can delve into their soft pretzels, “small bite” plates, and savory sandwiches everyone loves.
