Small Town, Big Art on a National and International Scale at Art Galleries Near Annville Inn
Art Galleries Near Annville Inn: Our Valley is filled with tremendous opportunities to enjoy fine art, including everything from visual arts, performing arts, ceramic arts such as pottery, and so much more. From Gallery openings to symphonies and live theatre, and the famed Mt. Gretna Art Show (see our Blog Post) there is always something happening in the Valley to wet the artistic appetite of our Guests. Most notably among the region’s offerings is the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery.
The Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery, located on the campus of Lebanon Valley College, is less than seven minutes’ drive from Annville Inn. Not only have we had Guests enjoy their visit there, we have had Guests so impressed, they became members even though they live far away! Both our monthly newsletter, “Annville Inn News” and our Annville Inn Travel Guide on our Website feature news about Art Galleries near Annville Inn.

World Class Art Exhibits
The Gallery launched in 1994. It found its home in a Gothic Revival style church located on the Lebanon Valley College campus. The mission: Provide museum quality artwork to residents of our beautiful Lebanon Valley. Outreach includes Lebanon Valley College students and visitors to the area, including those from Annville Inn. From this perspective, the Gallery is a true intersection of both arts and academics.
The Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery operates with full museum quality standards. Therefore, the Gallery is able to show world class art exhibitions from national and regional galleries, collections, and museums.
According to Visit Lebanon Valley, “One has a chance of finding works from the likes of the Andy Warhol Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and other notable institutions, right here in the Lebanon Valley. With its ability to showcase works from famed artists to students just getting started at Lebanon Valley College, the gallery is a truly unique resource for learning in addition to interacting with the arts in the Lebanon Valley.”

The camera is usually a visual anchor in our Game Room; however, this exhibition was the first time it had been off Annville Inn premises in 20 years. To this day, the camera is capable of making photographs vastly superior to any digital camera.
Budding Artists
Art Galleries have the opportunity to bridge budding artists to successful exhibitors. This intersection has the opportunity for their work to achieve acclaim. This month, for example, (March 2025) news from England is of an eight-year-old boy whose water colors were picked up by a local art gallery. Now, his work is becoming widely known in Europe. He has sold his first piece. Such success stories can and do sprout from the Arnold Art Gallery’s juxtaposition of academics and community. Students can also become involved in all phases of the Gallery under the watchful eye of the Endowed Gallery Director Dr. Barbara McNulty).

The Gallery’s changing exhibitions offer multiple opportunities for student internships. They generate community interest due to the wide variety of exhibition genre guided by Dr. McNulty.
The Suzanne H. Art Gallery transforms multiple times a year. This constant evolution, through a variety of exhibitions, provides essential arts experiences for the local community. The lively schedule also provides an innovative learning opportunity for students who participate in gallery internships under the guidance of Dr. McNulty. Exhibitions are made possible by sponsors and The Friends of the Gallery, the Gallery’s membership base.
Spring 2025 Exhibition

Now through April 6, 2025
Floating Beauty: Women in the Art of Ukiyo-e
Women in the Art of Ukiyo-e observes historical perspectives on women in addition to their depiction in art in Edo Period Japan (1615–1858). Woodblock prints highlight female characters in literature and kabuki theater. This includes courtesans and geisha of the Yoshiwara district. Additionally, the inclusion of wives and mothers from different social classes. Accompanying objects help to immerse the viewer in this world. Looking beyond the bijinga genre (“pictures of beautiful women”), this exhibition shows how women in Edo society took active roles in their own lives.
Floating Beauty: Women in the Art of Ukiyo-e is organized by the Reading Public Museum, Reading, Pennsylvania.
