A & J Christmas Shoppe

A & J Christmas Shoppe was—for some time, a “hidden treasure” here in the Lebanon Valley. Not 10 minutes from Annville Inn Bed & Breakfast, and we did not know about them for their first two years!

Nowadays, A & J Christmas Shoppe is on our list of recommendations to every Guest.  When a Guest goes over to A&J, we always joke, “Save something there for us, don’t buy out the whole store!”

It would be hard to buy out the whole store…their inventory is extensive, and their buyer is well versed in the latest in Christmas décor. The result is something for any taste, beautiful decorations one just doesn’t find “anywhere.”

A & J Christmas Shoppe – Open Less Than 60 Days a Year!

Only open a few months out of the year (They open in November and close for the year less than 60 days later on December 28!), the store is nothing short of fascinating.  You are out in the country on an old Pennsylvania farm—step inside the barn, and the world changes. Three large rooms filled with every type and theme of Christmas decoration  you can imagine!

A centerpiece we tell everyone to be sure to notice is usually in the middle room.  It is a HUGE SLEIGH, an antique made by a craftsman.  Notice the workmanship!  It was originally used by the owner’s grandfather to haul milk from the farm’s dairy house in to Lebanon, Pa. in the snow.  A team of horses would pull the sleigh, laden with milk cans to the Lebanon County Dairy.  

When the grandfather passed away, the son that owns A&J Christmas Shoppe told the family the only thing he wanted from Grandad’s estate was the sleigh.  It brought back fond memories and is a true work of art.  He got it and it proudly sits in the barn filled these days—not with cans of milk, but instead MOUNTAINS of Christmas pillows and other interior holiday decorations.  Be sure to check it out!  Most folks go in, are blown away by all the pillows and decorations, and don’t notice the unusual container holding them.

Unique and Fun Items Just Minutes Away!

Another feature of A & J Christmas Shoppe that we have enjoyed the results of is the new laser engraving system they purchased in order to create laser gifts for their clients.  We’ve had laser cut Christmas Ornaments, special rolling pens, recipe book stands and more created by A&J Christmas Shoppe…”on the spot”, crafted while we waited. 

Another unusual and fun item to not miss is a series of unique marble mazes created out of wood that have marbles and other objects flying, swooping, channeling through mazes, and interacting with the structure by ringing bells and causing other effects.  Fascinating craftsmanship!
