Iron Valley Tubing – Everything You Need to Know Before Visiting
Planning a trip to Iron Valley Tubing? This guide covers everything you need to know before your visit—from tickets and season dates to weather conditions, food options, parking, and what to wear—so you can focus on enjoying a fun day of snow tubing.
Tickets & Specials at Iron Valley Tubing
All guests must reserve a time slot and purchase tickets online in advance. Iron Valley does not allow walk-ins, as the resort limits each time slot to maintain a safe and enjoyable experience.
Ticket Policies to Know Before You Visit
- All tickets and specials include a 2-hour tubing session
- Tickets are valid only for the season in which you purchase them
- The tubing season typically runs from December 26 through March 1
When Does Iron Valley Tubing Open?
Opening day depends on weather conditions. Iron Valley needs several consecutive days of below-freezing temperatures (28°F or colder) to make snow and prepare the hill.
The target opening date is December 26. Once snowmaking begins, Iron Valley posts regular updates on the website and Facebook page.

Is Iron Valley Tubing Open Today?
Weather conditions can change quickly. Warmer temperatures or heavy snowfall may cause Iron Valley to close temporarily for safety reasons.
For the most accurate, up-to-date information, check:
- The Home Page of the website
- The Iron Valley Tubing Facebook page
You can also call ahead if you’re unsure about current conditions.
How Many Tubing Runs Will I Get?
The number of runs you receive during your session depends on:
- Current hill and snow conditions
- The number of guests scheduled in your time slot
Because some days and sessions are busier than others, run availability may vary.
How Fast Are the Tubing Lanes?
Lane speed changes throughout the day based on temperature, snow type, and sun exposure:
- Below-freezing temperatures with packed snow often create faster lanes
- Natural snowfall tends to slow lanes, since snowflakes add friction
- Warm (around 45°F) and sunny conditions may slow lanes and cause tubes to stop
Since conditions can change hour by hour, check the Home Page before your visit.

Food & Drink Options at Iron Valley Tubing
After tubing, you’ll find several convenient food options on site:
- Miner’s Pub, located on the second floor of the Clubhouse
- A snack bar in the Tubing Shop Lobby for quick grab-and-go items
Food & Beverage Policies
- Guests must eat any outside food at their vehicles
- Alcoholic beverages are prohibited unless purchased from Iron Valley, in compliance with Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board regulations

To reduce congestion, Iron Valley recommends changing into winter gear at your vehicle whenever possible.
Snow Tubing With Kids
Families are welcome. Please note these important guidelines:
- Children must be at least 40 inches tall to ride the large hill
- Children may not ride with adults
- When available, younger children can enjoy the Kiddie Hill
How Do You Get Back Up the Hill?
No hiking required. Tow lifts pull you and your tube back to the top of the hill after each run.
