Wertz Candies – A Sweet Piece of Local History
Wertz Candies; home of Lebanon’s most famous Caramel Corn and hand dipped Opera Fudge has been open for nearly a century. William Howard Wertz opened the shop in 1931 as the Karmelkorn Shop and later the in the 1970s the name was changes to the beloved Wertz Candies.

The Wertz family owned and operated the business through multiple generations before it was purchased by a new owner in 2025, continuing its long-standing tradition of sweet treats and craftsmanship.

Recognized as one of the oldest continuously operated chocolatiers in the country, Wertz Candies has built a reputation well beyond its hometown. The shop has even been featured on Good Morning America.
Among its best-known specialties are its famous caramel corn and hand-dipped opera fudge – classic favorites that have helped make Wertz Candies a treasured part of the community for nearly a century.
